I don't want to put words in your mouth, but I'm seeing shades of your experiences as a PCV in the first part of the interview; specifically:

"For me, the Ghana ThinkTank was a direct response to the discomfort I felt at seeing how international development sometimes played out, where people from “first” world countries were imposing solutions on cultures they had not grown up in. I knew I was a part of that, and worked with that knowledge during my time in Benin."

True?Olivernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61425636118956737.post-56614359205132281722012-03-25T14:16:21.037-03:002012-03-25T14:16:21.037-03:00Seeing as you're the number one commenter on m...Seeing as you're the number one commenter on my blog, you're already a fan boy. And I don't hate helping people, I just hate the people who help people.

Except for maybe these guys:
http://colorlines.com/archives/2012/03/ghana_thinktank_gives_white_saviorism_a_taste_of_its_own_medicine.htmlAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15291716356769632905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61425636118956737.post-78552365552457215842012-03-24T22:44:54.630-03:002012-03-24T22:44:54.630-03:00Not to get all fanboyish on you, but this might be...Not to get all fanboyish on you, but this might be your best post yet. Keep it up and your blog might just gain a measure of respectability (oh the horror!).

I do, however, have one question: why do you hate helping people?Olivernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61425636118956737.post-75136555745924214112012-03-24T18:15:32.301-03:002012-03-24T18:15:32.301-03:00I'm glad you liked the post. Please don't think I am discontented.

Despite my critique, I am happy with my choice and life at the moment. I think each of us have to come to terms with what we think development work is, or should be, or if it should exist at all. That's a question you have to answer yourself and will continue to struggle with during your service. That's part of Peace Corps.

If you have been invited to PC Paraguay I want to congratulate you. I know just how hard those invitations are to get, and I also want to say I think PC Paraguay is a FANTASTIC post. I am very serious when I say "I have a rad job." My projects are really fun, and I think I am doing good work. It's the greater context I wonder about.

If you decide to continue with PC Paraguay, please give me a shout when you get in country. Also feel free to facebook or email me if you have questions or just want to hear more.

Good luck.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15291716356769632905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-61425636118956737.post-91758894884575882462012-03-24T17:54:27.718-03:002012-03-24T17:54:27.718-03:00Wow, I'm a potential PCV for paraguay and I...Wow, I'm a potential PCV for paraguay and I've been reading blogs to get a sense of the country and the people I'd be working with. This is one of the best and well-written posts I have come across. Thank you for touching on just about everything to make it a well-rounded and informed opinion. And thanks for influencing my opinion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
